Ideally situated, the balcony looks out onto the Avenue Montaigne in Paris. A symphony of light, white and deep pink of falling rose petals, rose silk… in a baroque spirit.

Today we are heading to Seddon, suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Emma and Damon have been living here for twelve years, and have managed to squeeze four bedrooms and two bathrooms into this modest Victorian cottage. The Scandinavian and mid-century design is clearly present here, but also a distinctly Australian aesthetic, using a colour palette of desert orange and gumleaf grey/green.

Blooklyn artist

The artist Anthony Goicolea renovated this town house in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The multilevel house has a basement studio; an open kitchen and sitting room; a mezzanine living room and office; and two bedrooms above that. Levels of windows and a glass partition between the mezzanine and kitchen flood the place with light. The furnishings include thrift-shop pieces, like the 16-year-old sofa in the mezzanine living area, next to a Restoration Hardware armchair. On the mezanine, the sliding door of the guest bathroom doubles as a blackboard.

This lovely 67 sqm apartment is situated in Johanneberg, in the south of Göteborg, Sweden. Very bright, this home is characterized by the Scandinavian style with soft touches of colours that pop against all the white. The wall between the kitchen and the living room was taken down to create a big open space.

Sukha shop in Amsterdam

Irene Mertens is the owner of Sukha Amsterdam, a modern concept store located in the popular Haarlemmerstraat. The things are produced responsibly and sustainably, using vintage items — like clothing, furniture, books, jewelry, and unique handmade goods. The shop itself has a wonderful interior with its high ceilings, white walls and beautiful grey painted concrete floor. A small piece of heaven… The big white tipi in the shop filled with plaids and cushions is amazing !

Yesteryear spirit

Located in central London, British designer Jo Willer and her family live in this house that looks like an English cottage in the heart of the City. This place mixes Scandinavian and English style. Designer for the brand Designers Guild, Jo is constantly on travel to discover new homes, and brings back home new ideas for her own place. She likes to mix genres with harmony and has found real treasures in London flea markets, from antique furniture (nineteenth century iron bed, bathtub from a castle in Normandy, stove…) to vintage decorative items. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and Jo used mismatched antique furniture that she painted to create the yesteryear spirit that she wanted. The charm of the fully restored bathroom is also reinforced by the passage of time. Perched at the top of the house, the office library looks like an old attic where books and coziness invite reading.
